Age related plates

To be able to register a car on age related plated, what items must be used from the door car?

My local dvla office in wimbledon used a point system.
1 point for engine, 1 point for gearbox etc.
I could only get 5 points.
Needed 8 points to get an age related plate (proof of V5 etc required).
One interesting thing was 5 points for a brand new manufacturers chassis.
I told them I was the Manufacturer (Bickell Designs) so all they asked for was a receipt to prove the materials for the chassis was brand new.
I got an age related plate.

My best advice is go to the VRO that you intend to use and get them to tell you their requirements, that way you can arrange your receipts/v5 the way they want it.

Its based upon a points system you get points for using major parts like engine and transmission, you also need a V5 see this Link

Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

FYI:

In a BEC they don't give you a point for the engine and another for the gearbox (like they do with a conventional car engine).

Personally I think its unfair, but to be honest I have never coveted a J-reg car!

Mindless bureaucracy, if only the DVLA/VOSA can be included in all these election promises of "Cost Savings".

From the DVLA's own webpage.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/RegisteringAVehicle/DG_10014246

quote:

Kit Conversions

This is where a kit of new parts is added to an existing vehicle or old parts are added to a kit comprising a manufactured body, chassis or monocoque bodyshell. The general appearance of the vehicle will change and result in a revised description on the registration certificate.
A vehicle will retain its donor registration mark if either the original unmodified chassis or unaltered monocoque bodyshell and two other major components are used. If a new monocoque bodyshell or chassis from a specialist kit manufacturer is used (or an altered chassis or bodyshell from an existing vehicle) together with two major components from a donor vehicle, an age related mark will be assigned. The mark will be based on the age of the donor vehicle. An IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA test will be required to register the vehicle.
Where there are insufficient parts from a donor vehicle or in cases where the original registration mark is unknown, an IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA certificate will be required to register the vehicle and a 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated.

Wimbledon used the radically altered vehicle rules for Nitram.
Doesn't seem right, but it may be because he made his own chassis instead of buying one (it's my understanding is that it's supposed to be for turning a van into a pickup, or making motorhomes and icecream vans).
The points system is here

The 'Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report' V627/1, list major components for a car as;

Chassis/Body Shell
Axles
Transmission
Steering Assembly
Engine
Suspension (front and back)

You only need to use 2 of the above from a donor vehicle to qualify for an age related plate and as the form is rather vague it is open to interpretation.

I also know of people who managed to get the age related plate of the motorbike using the engine and gearbox

I did'nt need a V5 to get age related. It's the same year as the vehicle reg for the car that the engine and gearbox came from.
