Help, twitchy drive.
Hi,
Just finished my Haynes Roadster.
Took it out for a quick spin.
Found it almost undrivable, due to it's twitchy handling.
Cant take it above 60 wthout it tryin to throw itself into the hedge..
I know the tracking is ok.
So any ideas, obvious or obsure.

Are the three place I would start.
you say the tracking is ok, what is it set at ?

Ride height?
The rear should be higher than the front - I think my Locost is 5.5" floor to chassis at the from, and 6.5" at the rear (before the
chassis tilts up). Convert to metric if it makes you feel better! 
I can't speak for the roadster's measurements, but I bet they won't be much different.
It can be quite evil if the front is higher than the back, especially at speed.

What's the consensus on tyre pressures.
Pinto lump up front, fat lump at the back..
I know Jacko says 18psi.
I think I'm set at about 25psi all round

100% sure.... not enough toe in. guess how i know that. bet the turn in feels good at lower speeds lol.
20psi max on the tyres sent you a message on haynes with a link to something.
Anything With Tits or Wheels Will cost you MONEY!!

I'd say 17-18psi too - 25psi is wayyyyy too much even with the boat anchor in the front.

Bumpsteer, hadn't thought of that.

I run about about 18psi, cvh up front, bean pole in the drivers seat.

I run 18 PSI all round, and thats with a V6 hanging around up front and a lump of lard in the driving seat,  Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

My tyres are set to 18psi too and handling was pretty good and all shocks on softest.
Then, because the rear wings were set too low and were hitting the tyres on bump, as a quick fix, I set the rear shocks to hardest. The results was
every bump the back tried to jump in the air!
Could this be your problem?

So you finally got her finished Dogwood.
Well done that man. Im guessing we wont be seeing her at stoneleigh but will we see you? Have to share a beer
Tango will be making her first trip to stoneleigh this year, didnt quite get her registered in time last year

Yea I'll be at Stonleigh, with the car.
I'll be on the locost stand, with the other Haynes guys.
I hope to see Tango in the flesh.

Heard some interesting things about vindicator and stoneleigh so I doubt I will be on their stand. May well gatecrash the Rhocar stand as I have been
to a few of their local meets and know a few of the guys there but will make a point of coming to the Locost stand and making my face known.
Ill let you know where tango will be hiding
