Type 9 Speedo Drive
I have a type 9 box fitted to my robin hood zetec and have found the speedo has stopped, upon investigation the cable has broken but inside the speedo
drive, how would i remove this?, the gearbox is in a tunnel with no access apart from a hole in the tunnel wall, is it possible to remove the drive
unit without loseing the oil?
Has anyone got a diagram?

The end of the speedo cable just plugs into the side of the gearbox and is held in place by an internal circlip. You will not lose oil if you
disconnect the cable but, as you noted, access is the big problem.

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Yeh the circlip has been removed and the cable out, but it has left a piece in the drive unit which i need to remove in order to fit a new cable

The opposite side to the drive output is a blanking plate, looks like an oversized core plug, (about 30mm across) if you can lever this off the
speedo drive comes out the hole it covers, as said access will be the big problem.
If you have to remove the gearbox, then yes all the oil will come out.
It's poorly circled in this pic.
