I remember one of these petitions asking the government to make Microsoft sell Windows Vista at a similar price to the US. I think the UK price was
almost double the US price, but that's fairly normal with most things. Never mind that we have a free market and you can protest by not buying
it.

It's a free market decision between two independant commercial entities. Why should the Govt get involved?
You should be more worried about the price rises in gas and electricity, over which the Govt CAN have some influence via the regulators.

Strange how some seem to be indignant over peoples passion to keep their loved sport free to air and readily viewable. We want to watch it for free.
F1 doesn't need to go free to air, bernie is just lining his pockets. We're almost definitely going to lose at least two great venues due
to bernies greed (australia and turkey) and now he is pricing some fans out of the sport. He's done a lot to get the sport to the great event it
is today but I think this is a sep too far

i think it will effect the government in the long run with a lot of the F1 teams based in the UK. if interest is lost over the next years and less
and less people aspire to work in F1 they will just relocate to another country...
i think we should try and keep one of the best industries in this country alive by keeping the pinnacle of motorsport as they say free to air...

And another thing not F1, but how come i can watch Scotland Ireland Rugby today but not the England Game Grrrrrrr
down with Sky sports!!

Just as there are more households with 2 cars than none, I would guess there more households with Sky/Virgin/satellite/cable etc. TV than no TV.
I doubt it will make any difference other than an increase in the thickness of Bernie's wallet. Didn't UK football league have live
matches before they went pay per view (not a fan so I may be wrong) and fans quite happily(?) subscribe to view. Hasn't really had any effect
on the number of supporters at matches or salaries of the players that I am aware of.
Don't get me wrong, I like free stuff as much as the next man and one of the reasons for getting a telly would be F1 but if it goes to pay per
view, then really don't see why government should step in.
I'd rather the gov. did something about fuel and petrol prices as already said.

if nothing else a good number of petitions highlights f1 is likely to lose audience, exactly what they don't want after audiences have started
to grow again.

the license fee is " set annually by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport", no rise in the licence fee for 2 ? years has
left the beeb short, hence skys involvement in the first place.
this petition is probably asking for an increase in the licence fee, which is better for me than £40-60 a month extra a month.

There is a big difference in coverage of formula one compared to sports like football. I can't stand Foot ball But I'm under the
impression that pretty much every team plays every week so If you paid to watch all the football there would be enough to be always watching football.

I watch every race, but I will not give Sky any money for anything. Football was a much better game before they (& their money) got involved.
F1 will go the same way.
I now watch lower league football (much better).
The best way to stop sky getting things is to not have sky !
Perhaps if people stopped complaining about the tv license cost (it's a lot cheaper than sky) we could have them paid a bit more & the beeb
could have kept the F1.
