Recommend me a van??
I'm upgrading to a small van and have up to 2K to spend on one.
Which is the cheapest to run, MPG, insurance etc as I presume the back end is all the same-ish size.
So, a Berlingo, Partner, Kangoo, Doblo, Connect, etc etc, any I've missed out?
I like the new shape ones, Bipper, Nemo etc but they too pricey just now...
I have a Pug 106D to part exchange (unlikely though that is!)

Highly recommend a vw caddy, maybe able to pick an older higher mileage one up now

I agree, i had a 1998 caddy, non turbo 1.9 sdi and it was awesome. I paid £1200 for it 18 months ago and it had under 70k on it.. Great little vans...

PEUGEOT EXPERT 1905 diesel, run for years, good space, cheap as chips also run on chip oil.

Corsa and Escort are the only two I can think of.. I think the Corsa van is now known as a "Combo"
No idea when they stopped the Escort I think it might have been 2002...

Renault Kangu is a good choice lots about at cheap prices. Can be a pain to work on if you do work yourself. I prefer my transit connect, very
practical and nice to drive. Would buy another given a choice.

ones to avoid
Vaux Vivaro/Ren Traffic if the gearbox dont fail the engine will
any LDV
Vaux Combo small diesel esp ex gpo the timming chains stretch
then they wont start and thats at 25000 miles
Ones to have
Transit connect they give no hassel ( hold there value so may struggle at a budget )
Peu Partner Cit Berlingo... good workhorse but watch for heavy clutch pedals
Esc but they tend to be snails go for turbo 51 plates
VW Caddy quality but tend to be exp
Ren Kango
Fiat Doblo 1000 cheaper than anything else year for year but for a reason !!!
Peu expert Cit Dispatch just that little larger but good vans ( beaware of fuel pumps on early models and gearbox )
I work at a van sales garage so see it all
bare in mind anything on 4 wheels is trouble

Berlingo all the way here, got mine seven years ago with 108,000, now just short of 250,000 with no major problems. Only failed to get me to my
destination once, when the alternator went, got back home on battery power though. I bought another van to replace it once, but felt guilty so carried
on using it.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

Found meself a nice Pug Partner 1.9D on a 55 plate, going to look at it the morn.
Now then, regarding insurance I've tried the vancompare and others and am a bit dismayed at the cost.. Q? can I use the 8 years discount from my
current 106?
going to ring my current insurer and ask if I can transfer the remainder of my policy.. any thoughts?

Unless the egr screws up - a 10p part not available separately as part of manifold and yup - over £400 to replace. Asked Ford if it was a reg prob,

Yeah, rare prob all right!
I drove ours to London once, and couldn't get out - I'd seized upi that muich. Whereas Renault trafic, very comfy, quite quick and
economical (even got 40mpg from the larger Master). Rather take the chance on a knackered box than a knackered back
