Wanted: 13" 6J ET-18 ish light wheels

Hello All.

Alongside trawling ebay I thought I'd ask on here- I'd like some Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 or Compomotive CXR's, 13" diameter, 6J, ET-18 or thereabouts, drilled for Ford (4 x 108 I think). Preferably in a dark grey, silver or black.

Very specific I know, but if you don't ask you don't get! If they have some good tyres on I'd be interested in those also.

Team Dynamics don't make a 13" 6J wheel. They list them on the website but after talking to them a couple of weeks ago they insisted there is no demand for this size and I should try and fit a 7" wide wheel

I am not going down that route as a) the tyre I want to use are not recommended for a rim bigger than 6.5" and should ideally be on a 5.5" rim and b) going from 6-7" adds (yet) another 1/2Kg to each wheel. Whilst I am not a weight fanatic I do like to try and do things 'right' and IMHO a 7" wheel on a Striker is not 'right' unless you have monster BHP (which is don't)

I bet they would make them if you ordered enough of them

might be worth asking what the min. order would need to be - it might be small enough for a group buy.....

They don't have the tooling for a 13x6 rim and when I asked what the MOQ would be they declined to answer

I am not interested now anyway as tomorrow I am picking up 4 x caterham superlight wheels (13x6....and by my calculations the correct offset) at a good price They might need a strip and re-paint if I don't like the colour but that's easy to arrange.

Peter,

What offset are the superlight ones? The only Caterham wheels I could find in 13 x 6J are 23mm offset. Not sure how much difference 5mm makes though!

Anyway, I was feeling flush until I saw how much of my bonus the taxman took, it might be new tyres on the rims I already have!

Im confused.... in the first post you are asking for wheels with an offset of ET-18

Then you said the caterham ones are a 23 offset, surely the difference is 41mm not 5mm

ET of -18 and +23 is 41mm difference...

are you after wheels 13x6 et18?

Sorry for interrupting your thread but I think you need to be as clear as possible.

I will measure them up later to double check but the ET is quoted as 24mm. If you need 18 (and not -18 as you originally said) then 5-6 mm is not going to make that much difference but you may want to check first....if you are ever down in Kent you are welcome to try and fit one to see

Sorry -18 was a mistake. And I've had my wheels off today and they're currently ET26.

I believe that the mk2 Escort used ET18, as I'm on cut down Escort struts that is what i was aiming for. Having had a search there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding offsets given that our cars are a along way from Henry's original application. There was some talk about lighter cars requiring more scrub which would indicate the use of a lower offset, but this could of course be bollocks. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Of course I could stop caring and just drive the bloody thing, but the master cylinder is goosed so its not going anywhere for a while!

Now I have a set I can confirm the Caterham 8 spoke wheels 1) fit a treat and 2) are ET24

This is on an Escort Mk2 based live axle Striker.
