Ford Type E Gearbox

Hi,

I am after a Ford Type E gearbox, the 4 speed version of the type 9, sometimes also known as the "rocket" box (although I believe the rocket box was a special close ratio competition version).

I know this was fitted mainly to Cortina's, but also some Capri's, Escort RS2000 and early Sierra's. I've tried on eBay but they don't seem to come up much, just wondered if anyone on here had one they were willing to part with!

Cheers,
Rob.

I've got one currently fitted to the crossflow.

It's coming out over the winter if you can wait?

You can tell a lot from the first and second gear ratios. The most desirable standard production 4 speed boxes had 2000e ratios.

With 2000e ratios 1st gear requires almost exactly 3 turns of the input shaft to one of the output, 2nd gear requires 2 turns of the input to 1 of the output.

The number of splines on the input shaft also helps identify - generally 20 splines means it is a type 2 or type 3, 23 splines is a type E or type 9.

Teegray19 - if it's definitely a Type E then yes i am interested. Ideally after one sooner if anyone has one, but if not pls can i have first dibs when it comes out.
