V8 Engine weights

Hi All

finally getting the Wedge ready for a trial fit, thought id pop it on some scales to get an idea of the weight

a little better than expected 145.5kg, with fly wheel and starter etc, still to add dizzy and alternator, exhasut manifolds

little better than expected, maybe need to check scales calibration though,

i think its a little lighter than the previous Alfa V6 project so thats a good sign,

Although I may have added a litttle weight in the last 10 years

Wedge on scales

Ill do the same when angine and gearbox are together to ee how it swells

At some point I'll get my Audi 4.2 on the scales - it's meant to be 200Kg-ish according to folklore but that's with all sorts of ancils on it, including an inlet manifold at 16Kg (!) and two exhaust headers at 5Kg each, the starter alone weighs about 10Kg.

From moving it about, it doesn't feel that heavy and it doesn't flex the engine stand as much as my cast iron 2 litre 3SGTE.
