Escort live axle disc conversion
Has anyone here done a disc conversion on a mk1/2 live axle using either VW golf calipers or MX5 rear calipers? The sierra calipers are mega money and
very heavy! Had a look through the search and cant find anything on the live axles.
Cant seem to find any brackets on ebay etc.

I made my own for both MX5 and Golf calipers - this is MX5 using Fiesta discs
Since then I've gone back to the standard 8" drums.
Far less bother, just as efficient and actually lighter - something less than 500g difference for the pair

How did you mount the discs to the hubs in the end?

The flange on the half-shaft was turned down until the disc slid over
The brackets I made for the Golf caliper were ally and bolt on

Yes I have I bought vw calipers of eBay last year £80 for the pair brand new with carriers and fitted fiesta discs smart four for rear pads slight
adjustment to the pads and aftermarket bolt on caliper brackets from eBay as said the halfshafts need to be turned down but not much can use a little
grinding wheel

Try mk2mania they sell the bolt on brackets for £20 you will also need the spacers to replace the rear brake drum back plates
