R1 clocks, kmh to mph? also tacho problem.

I've just been looking at some 98-2000 R1 clocks on ebay, and the guy says in the ad that they can read kmh or mph. Is it possible to alter the readout so that it reads mph as I have a set of kmh clocks that I need to change for SVA?

Also, why does my tacho flick between 4500 rpm and zero at idle and when the engine is revved, as this figure bears no relation to the self diagnostics which read 3000 and 7500, and I'm pretty sure there are no faults anyway?

Cheers, Kurt.

Could just be a faulty rev counter... Iv had 3 faulty ones!!!! oh well...4th time lucky!

The speedo healer should change it from Kph to mph.

my 98 R1 clocks can be changed from MPH to KM/H by pressing a button. Are you sure that 4500 isn't a diagnostics thing?

There are three diagnostic checks on the R1 tacho.

TPS - 3,000
EXUP - 7,000
Fuel level light - 8,000

And yes so long as its not a Euro import the clocks are switchable from MPH to KMH.
