offical documents for SVA ?

I rang the local sva office the other day to see what I needed to bring with me on the day of my test, the examiner told me that I would need to produce an offical document from the DVLNI stating that the donor car I used to supply my engine was now disposed of.I have the vin plate from the car but he claimed that was not enough,so I rang the DVLNI and they told me to send them a fax telling them what I needed.I done this on wednesday and got a phone call to day from a nice girl from the DVLNI telling me that she or any of her co-workers have never heard of such a letter and don't think that they can help me.Does anyone out there know of such a letter or have I just picked the examiner up wrong.Another builder over here told me that he had to go to a police station and they gave him a letter saying that the car he used was not stolen or on any wanted list !Any answers please

I also would like to know.
The guy that I bought my engine, g/box, rear axle, wheels etc.off, said he coudn't find the paperwork for the car but he would dig them out. He scrapped the bodyshell and surplus bits. Now I don't seem to be able to contact him. I know the parts all came off the same car, but where does that leave me? :/discuss Please.

Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

It must have been a day for it. Ive just received four different forms from my local office and SVA dept of DVLA and couldnt seem to fit my car into any of the boxes so rang them for some help. Total waste of time. No one there could help and one said she didnt even know what an axle was
So, i called the DVLA swansea. No use either. Then called some cocky git in the SVA dept for some guidance and was rudely told he could only help with the form SVA1 and questioned whether or not i had been to school and to read the form
All in all a bunch of bloody idiots. I have just filled out what i could, did a covering letter and sent them all back. I only want a bloody chassis number at this stage.

I don't know about the SVA rules in NI but I've never heard of anything like that over here. Can you not get the nice girl at DVLNI to speak to the SVA Inspector direct and hopefully sort it out between themselves. Failing that, try contacting a few builders in NI and see what they did to get through SVA.

Best of luck.

I suspect they want a SORN from the donor car. They're also paranoid that people are using kit cars to 'fence' stolen engines!
Has anyone ever used this as a motivation for building a Kit Car??

If you're the registered keeper of the donor, you'd best get it declared SORN or you'll get fined. If in doubt tell them it wasn't a donor, you bought the engine off a scrap yard.

My father built a tractor out of spares and scrapped parts and had to get a policeman round to have a look at it before he got a QNI plate. God only knows what a policeman is going to do except confirm a) it's a tractor and b) the engine and chassis numbers are as stated - and this would be done at MOT anyhow!

In my experience the lovely girls of the DVLNI know very little about kit cars!!

BTW if your SVA inspector was John Nelson, the very, very best of luck to you!! He really hates Sevens!!

At my SVA I did have a reciept for my donor vehicle and I had it declared SORN, I bought my engine from Traynors and I had a reciept for it.

Sorry I can't be of much more help, the DVLNI over here are a shambles IMHO.
