your builds???
Hi guys, just wanted to see where everyone is up to on their builds. Ive got the front wishbones on, steering rack, diff, steering column and
switches. Got my engine last weekend (yay) so thatll be in as soon as ive got it on wheels which'll be coming from conrod. Before the wheels go
on i need to do the stub axle inserts.
So for the next coupla weeks its inserts, brake lines (damn need to remember to order my master cyls) half shafts, wheels then engine in. Not gonna
really bother with rebuilding the engine yet, its in pretty good nick. Ill do that while im at uni, with a fully loaded workshop at hand...

Hey Fin,
Not quite as far as you, but pretty similar.
Got all wishbones on. Steering rack, diff are ready to go on.
All brakes fully dismantled ready for rebuilding with all new bits n bobs I got this weekend.
Need to get halfshafts shortened, front hubs moddied and get myself the inserts - gonna look to see how necessary the angle on the insert is,
beautiful objects tho the luego inserts are, and extra 77 quid (inc vat) at this stage is a bit more than budget allows!
Hopefully be rolling in next couple weeks. Then I'll be looking at mounting the engine. Only once I've done that can I look at the
steering column - did you have to mod that at all or are you using std sierra bits?

I'm about the same as you Fin. Rear end is on (finally got myself an LSD diff). Front end is trial fitted got to get some more M12 washers and
enlarge the top wishbone mounting hole - my shocks use 13mm bolts for some reason - harder than you think because of the position you can't get
a drill in so having to file it.
Hoping to get some engine mounts done (with help from the Conrod) and get my gearbox whizz mate over to do the crazy gearbox conversion required.
Brake lines are in as is loom. Just trying to splice the Granda column into the Escort mk4 wiring (sussing out the headlamp wiring is a nightmare!).
Need to order master cylinders (£££) and some flexis then with any luck I'll be able to take it up the drive and back

chris,the headlight relays switch to earth,thats probly why your havin a prob working it out

Stuart and I have a rolling steerable chassis with brake lines in but not connected up yet (messing about with pedal box + clutch cable first).
Haven't finalised the engine mounting yet (Fireblade) so haven't started wiring. Mocked up a dash from ply and fitted gauges just to
visualise. Fuel tank is near completion just waiting for Demon to deliver fuel filler (3-4 week delivery!). Still got lots to do and we've
spent so far just over £8k (OUCH! Just been slapped by the wife!). Still needing to buy some stuff like harnesses etc so estimate another £500 to
go. Never mind the second will be oh so much cheaper as we have learnt a lot!
To answer some queries previously mentioned in no particular order...
No we haven't finished and we've had the chassis since March 2002. We were pretty slack last summer.
Wishing we hadn't had the chassis powder coated from the off as we've had to drill/grind various things which we'll have to patch up
later.
Tried to fit the GRP rear panel last night and it's a beeatch!  Cracked it at the top in the struggle to get it to fit. Filed it a bit
then gave up. We are now going to try some 16SWG ally to see if we can do a better job than the GRP. Not Luego's fault (maybe ) but we are
not sure if the GRP rear panel is just nasty or if it's because it's been sitting around for over a year and has deformed enough to be a
pain. The other GRP stuff (scuttle, nosecone, bonnet + wings) are all fine.
Anyone else had rear GRP problems?

no GRP problems... really..
did notice if you leave it off for to long though it is a bit hard to get back into shape.... but once its back one for a few days it goes fine....
no such thing as to much power......

Hi Velocity builders - I must have been one of the first, if not the first, to order a Velocity in August 2002. Family & funds are dictating a
slow build - but i'm enjoying it! Car is rolling & steering with brakes & handbrake, panels & scuttle on, fuel tank in. Pinto engine
in.
Sorry to hear andyd 's problems with the rear panel. I have had problems as well but after filing away the bottom of the panel around the towing
eye it eventually went on & looks great.
Current problem is that having fitted the bare pinto engine straight down the centre of the chasis i now find that the alternator hits a chassis
member. Fitted a shorter fan belt & filed down the mounting lugs on the engine - the engine is now at a very slight angle.
Also i copied Luego's brake pipe layout & mounted the brake switch on the front cross member - this is ok with a x-flow but not a pinto -
needs to be mounted to one side.
Hoping to be on the road for next summer.

Hi Guys, sorry to hear you are having a small problem with the rear panel; we have remedied this problem by getting a new mould made. Keep the info
and comments going, because as you all are aware at Luego we do something about it. Cheers The Luego Team.
