A bit lardy?
Just got the car weighed at the local weighbridge and it cam in at 690kgs with me on-board so take off my 72kgs and thats 618kgs wet.
Thats sounds heavy for a Velocty with no windscreen, wipers, carpets, etc........ Its got the 4AGE 20v engine which is also supposed to be fairly
light.
What do your Velocity's weigh? I'd like to lose 80kgs but where should I start? I recently lost 14kgs myself which was difficult enough.

Mine was 700kgs fully wet, pinto, fully upholstered interior, boot compartment, Steel floor and scuttle - made for comfort not trackdays!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Same - my pinto'd Avon made for comfort came in at 636 wet.
My BEC should be sub 500, but it's not made for comfort.

Well mines not made for comfort and neither am I.
I wonder why its so heavy?
I've got rid of the 17" alloys and put some 14" on to help lose some weight but I'm surprised its still so much.
Even if I go carbon fibre I can't see myself losing too much weight.
For a sparse car I wonder where all the weight is coming from.

Has it got standard Sierra parts on it, such as brake capilers, front uprights etc? THey can be replaced with ali to save weight. Also the floor on a
Velocity's steel, lots of other sevens are ali which saves a bit more. Pedal box all steel? Can get ali pedals and lots of other lightweight
components, just depends how much you want to spend

Glad your all carrying a bit of weight I got laughed at for coming in at 635 with a full tank approx 9 gallons, comfy seats from a Volvo and Sierra
trailing arms on the back suspension. Panels are Ally though so wheather this makes a difference to fibreglass who knows
Oh and it has a zetec with DCOES do heavier that injection

Usually lightness and expense are relative... easiest way is wheels (CXR's) brake calipers and disc's (Wilwood), Diff (Quaife) all cost
lots...

I've got granada calipers at the front and sierra at the back. Must be heavy.
Ally pedal box and I'll need to check the floor.
Recently gone from 17" to 14" alloys so much ligher now (anyone want TSW Freeze with new Yokohamas?)
So I guess a new light battery and hubs/callipers is the way to go. Any recommendations?
How much ligher is the quaiffe diff?
Thanks for the input so far!
