Smack, Bang, Wallop! - Now with pictures
Not enough to kill a car on Thursday in the floods, just managed to fold up the nearside front suspension (pictures to follow) after clipping the kerb
under braking.
Looks like the suspension has given way in just the 'right' way to aviod damage to the chassis mounting points but yet to do a full
investigation.
Ben at Luego on the case with replacement bits - hopefully back on the road in no time (might have some probs with the steering rack but not sure
yet).
MORAL: Always assume that the person coming the other way is an idiot who is about to swerve out...
Smack1
Smack2
Smack3
Top wishbone is bent as is the threaded section on the top ball joint, bottom ball joint also twisted. Bottom of shock completely ripped out and top
mounting of shock also bent - All seems to have failed 'well' - Only minor damage to alloy.
Mounting points all look straight and the end of the track rod seems OK - Very lucky all round...

Hard luck Neil, I hope you get it sorted.
I reckon you have to drive a Seven like a motorbike and be very suspicious of other people. Like a bike they dont see you.
Eyes on stalks all the time.
Steve.

Sorry to hear about the car mate, but at least you are ok.

Thanks guys - Lad who was out with me thought it was brilliant (he's only a nipper)
Bit of a wake up call - Because I had so much trouble getting the car on the road for the summer, then not having a summer so not being able to drive
it has made me too impatient both in terms of driving and work on the car, which included finally getting the front alignment bang on and getting the
brakes checked over properly and reset on rollers - Extremely angry at self all round.

Ever the optimist.

Sorry to hear that.
But on the bright side theres no way I'm letting you near any of my cars.
Killing 2 cars in a week is pretty good going, is it part of the interview process for a job at PPC?

Just something I Remember seeing in another post:
If you have the A-Arm plate as yours it creates a stress riser right where it ends.
thats why its important to have its ends tapered.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

Good news is there was a very nice coment about your car on page 24 of August's Complete Kit Car
"It was next to an immaculate car with a cossie V6"
