Hi all, I am Paul from The Netherlands (Rotterdam), I am a regular visitor (lurker) of LCB and last year I had contact with Dave, he is rebuilding a
TVR V8 engine for his Fury, see his thread. He asked me to start my own thread, it can be interesting for others, and he is right!
I am building and driving kit cars for 25 years and currently I own a Westfield with VX redtop engine, a fantastic car.
But I love V8’s and my big wish is building a GD T70 with LS3 engine. Beside building costs, the rediculous amount of (eco)tax I have to pay to get it
registered in our wunderful country, keeps me from building it.
I always liked the Fisher Fury and last year I could buy a V8, correctly registered in ’89 with matching numbers. The former owner started to restore
it. After dismantling it and buying a bunch of new parts he discovered he would never get it running again, I bought it…. Basically a van full of
scrap and a V5 document.
I started to change the chassis. I know how important it is to sit as comfortable as possible so I wanted to change the pedalbox to create as much
footwell as possible. I heard about the weakness of a standard Fury Pedal box, so the best option was to make it completely new. May be a bit heavy
but definitely no flex anymore. In the end I cut half of the innerside of the chassis and made it new…
Beside the padal box I added some extra tubes for stiffness and made side impact protectors, these are also the base for the rollbar.
As far as I know this is one of the few Fury V8’s in the Netherlands, possible the only one, and I was lucky Dave could help me with measuring
specific dimensions on his car.
With the kit I also bought 2 complete engines, but both in parts and I decided not to use them. I bought a John Eales 3,5 V8. I did not hear it
running but it feels and looks good and is clean under the covers. I am gonna ditch the carbs and install fuel injection. I hope I can run it for a
while without rebuilding it.
I painted the chassis and mounted the suspension.
Next thing is positioning the body, I already discovered the side pods are not wide enough on the back, but for every problem is a solution…
I will try to keep you posted.

Tidy workmanship and neat welding. It'll be a cracker when finished no doubt.

Hang on a minute though... I've just spotted a mistake! You've only gone and put the bloody pedal mounts on the wrong side of the car! Doh!

Nice work. I'm doing similar to my Stylus chassis at the moment, which is quite close to a Fury chassis.
Am struggling to decide what to do about pedals, and might go homebrew too as I can't find anything off-the-shelf that looks good (without going
Tilton money!)

i wish i had a build space that big
sh...., I new I was doing something wrong but I could not figure out what...
But I leave it this way I think, too much work to change it again.
Just make sure you put the steering wheel on the same side as the pedals.
Hi Paul, good to see you here, and nice project!

Ooohhh! Garage envy!....
Any news?
Hi Dave and others,
Times are changing... last year I lost my job.
I decided to start my own business so the Fury had to wait.
I developed a new type of wheel lifter to help car mechanics changing heavy wheels.
Instead of already existing lifters the machine is underneeth the car and very easy to use. Last moth I started selling it but time are difficult,
garages don't want to invest at the moment.
Take a look at the website http://www.wielbuddy.nl
The websitelanguage is dutch only at the moment but you will understand the pictures and video clips.
If you know people in the UK who are interested in it please let me know.
Recently I restarted working on the Fury. Brake and fuel lines are installed and I made and installed both the driver and passenger side panels. I
made templates for the floorpanels, I cut already 1 side and may be tomorrow I will find time to cut the other one and drill and install them both. I
will make some pictures and post them later this week.
Regards, Paul
Hi, your wheel lifter looks a great quality bit of kit.... hope you start selling
you've done some nice work on your car, good luck with the project.... it'll be so cool!

"I always liked the Fisher Fury and last year I could buy a V8, correctly registered in ’89 with matching numbers."
fisher took over the fury from sylva in ~1994 and sylva built furys not before 1991.....so, how comes the 1989 registration?
You are right! The car is registered as a Sylva.
Amazing how time flies!
I did not spend much time building the car. Loads of reasons, i have a busy life but it is mainly priority...
And it has to compete with my lovely Westfield.
Because of the brexit the future for importing UK registered cars in the EU is uncertain, I have to get it NL registered asap.
It has to be more or less a complete car so i have to give it time.
But every time i see it in my garage i still love it!
Hooray! It still lives!
even when its registered as sylva, it cannot be "correctly" registered in 1989....as sylva built fury´s in 1991, some also say not before
1992.
as the donor cars of those fury´s had been still "old" escorts, the 1989 date does not even match with a donor car.
1989 donor car would be sierra...but there arent any sierra components used ion this car.
