AIS removal advice
r1_manx - 7/12/09 at 11:33 AM

Hey guys,

I am looking to remove the AIS system on my 2003 R1 engine. How have other people on here gone about this? Any advice and pics is appreciated.

Thanks

On mine i removed all of it and then used bolts to block the four outlets by the exhaust. Should be some pics in my build(see address below) around dec- feb sort of time.

im guessing this is the same as the pair system on a hayabusa, providing air into the exhaust for emissions,?

on the hayabusa we just remove the lot and blanc off the holes on manifold, in fact i cut off the pipes about 10mm from the plates that bolt to manifold crimped and welded them up

Cheers for the info guys, I think i'll try the crimp and weld method. The hyabusa is slightly different in design I think but the same principle where it's intended to reduce emissions.

Cheers

Got round to looking at the AIS system on my R1...they are now cut, crimped and welded up, it's definitely an easy solution to the problem without having to fork out for a AIS removal kit.
