Dropped o ring
danny84 - 1/8/14 at 05:10 PM

As the title says numpty me has managed to drop the orange Orings off the water link pipe in my r1 4xv sump while trial fitting a baffle plate.
I've managed to recover one but the other is nowhere to be seen.
What's the chances if this doing any damage when I get round to fitting the engine!!??
Maybe it's just a case of starting it letting the gears do their thing and dropping the oil??
Better to be safe than sorry.

If the engine out best to buy a new gasket, drop the sump fish out the O ring and put the sump back on.
Last thing you want is rubber bunging up an oil feed

You probably already know the best answer to be fair

Not worth the risk imho, Best get it done now and then it won't be in the back of your mind when you start using the car...

The engine is fresh rebuilt so no oil in yet.
I think i'll just pour a little in the sump, nip the sump back on give it a swirl round and see if anything emerges.
There's always the option of taking it to work and blasting it out with an air line.
