I though I knew but after a conversation today can someone clarify please ?
Oil level on a fireblade with dip stick (no sight glass)
Check screwed fully in or sat on top thread ?
Always used to be sat on thread when i was a lad, no doubt someone will put me right if things have changed
Sat on top of threads. ie, not screwed fully in.

screwed in !
On the Blackbird it was sat on threads.
Not a Fireblade admittedly but still Honda...
Scewed in for me as well, so thats 50:50 chance of getting it correct from the other posts, but I am sure I am correct as I looked it up last year.
If I put to muh in my BEC the clutch slips so I have it 1/2" over the top level.
I always thought it was on threads.
Checked the manual and it is sat on top of the threads.
Phil
My manual also says sat on top thread.
I've never known a bike dipstick not to be sat on top and screwed in when checking the oil, including two-stroke gearboxes!

Crikey, learn something new every day!
Will go home tonight and measure it out properly then (will refer to the Haynes manual as well just to confirm as there is a mixed response!)

PS Maybe that's why my last engine didn't last too long then?
Another vote for not screwed in. I've worked on Jap bikes for the last 30+ years and that has always been the case.
