Anyone seen this in the flesh?

The body looks great to me, bin the Lada motor a bit of development and it might be good?

The body looks like it's trying to be 5 different cars and ends up looking like a brain damaged micra.

Chassis doesn't fill me with confidence, either.

My wallet is secure – I didn’t even flinch!

skodaman - 22/10/09 at 02:40 AM

Looks like the mini based Marcos to me or the later Midas. Ladas have got to be the worst ever cars. I learned to drive in one and stuck with motorbikes for another ten years cos I thought all cars were like ladas to drive.

Not a bad looker, but not 100% right.

But it has got McFerson suspension on it

Toprivetguns - 22/10/09 at 07:32 AM

I dont like that fuel tank in the passenger compartment.

Why not? this is how many mid engine cars are, mine included.
I assume that there's a fire wall to go in there to isolate it from the passenger comaprtment.

same here, looks like a lot of cars in one, mini, ferrari, mito, marcos and more...

whitestu - 22/10/09 at 09:04 AM

I think that looks really nice - except maybe the front grill.

02GF74 - 22/10/09 at 09:11 AM

come on, why the criticism? fantastic presumably first effort. unless you have made something totally unique from first principles, then you shouldn;t be critising but admiring hte amount of time and effortto product someting like that - we have seen much worse, usually on ebay or even from UK Kit car manufacturers.

anywasy, ny turn to criticsie looks pretty good but what lies underneath the body could be done better.

Mr Whippy - 22/10/09 at 10:27 AM

its ok, wee bit dated in its style, not too convinced on the frontal protection. They show another car which looks better but I couldn't find any thing else on it

There's more to like than dislike.
There's certainly a lot to respect.

He has taken a single donor, used it quite cleverly, then he has constructed a semi monocoques chassis to uses the standard bits.
There are certainly elements of the design which really are very pretty if perhaps a little unbalanced, but overall it is certainly a project to be proud of.
It's just a shame about the windscreen, which I take it was pretty much forced upon him.
Picture this with a slightly better shaped modern bonded screen.

I likeski

speedyxjs - 22/10/09 at 01:16 PM

I really like that

kb58 - 22/10/09 at 01:18 PM

I think he did an admirable job building a coupe. Before you guys get too hard on him, consider building your own composite body from nothing, making sure all the panels fit up and the doors work correctly. It's an enormous undertaking. Styling? I think he did fine.

I just hope that coolant line running round the drivetrain isn't PVC sprinkler pipe, and a couple more diagonals are called for, but still well done.

I dunno, as far as I'm concerned, as soon as he put prices up and offered a kit, he's opened himself up for critisism.

I'll be a contrarian, I quite like it, The styling is cute and quirky without being all hairdressery. The semi-monocoque chassis looks elegantly executed and I like that he's used as much of the donor as possible.

He's even listing BEC versions as an option if you dig into the website a bit.

Faux grille is a bit pointless, but the eye expects it there, so...

Cheers, Ted

I hope the Lada engine runs for at least 3 minutes so your hands don't get cold pushing it.

or...

I went to the spare parts shop the other day and said" I want some oil and a filter for my Lada - The Guy replied "Well ok but I think your getting the better end of the deal".

violentblue - 26/11/09 at 04:43 PM

looks like they had a lot of really good design ideas, but somehow got the proportions wrong.

that being said I still like it and would buy one if the price was right.
