Dunno about everthing else but you mat want to try these for your tyres LINKY

What size tyres are you after?

Oh and by the way, welcome to the madhouse.

Cheers

Rich

was thinking 175/60 on the front 185/60 on the back. thanks for the link ad the welcome

I think most use THESE for tyres. If it's Kit's or Locosts, get in touch with Procomp on here and he'll point you in the right direction.

Car doesn't have to be SVA'd just capable of passing an MOT.

Hi Gazeddy.

I have replied to your U2U.

As above Polly are the best supplier for the tyres. The A539 is no longer in general production. But Polly have the deal for continued supply.

In Terms of size. It is better to run the 185's all round. Ask the lads there for advise on the tyres as regards too tread depth etc.

Cheers Matt

PS Welcome to the MAD but sensible world of Locost racing.

first

ARDS, Medical, License, 750mc membership and series membership.

second
does my locost need to be registered as a road car or just mot passable?

The championship regs list what you can and cannot have/do. The car will need to mirror the regs for compliance.

third
do i need an sva certificate?

No

fourth
where can i get yoko a539s cant find them anywhere in the sizes listed?

George/Steve Polley at Polleysport for A539's 13X6. Scrubbed to 4 to 5 mm

Have a search under novice pack on this site for information.

Gazeddy - 2/12/08 at 08:59 PM

understood most of the replies but was does "scrubbed" mean?
and what gearbox and diff am i best starting with i have types 2s out of lots of different escorts and 3.9 and 4.1 diffs?

General Bilko - 2/12/08 at 10:47 PM

scrubbed = tyre tread has been buffed / rubbed / shaved down to reduce depth of tread. This reduces overheating and increases grip (coefficient of friction).

Type 2 (GT box if you have one) with 4.1 diff is fine.

procomp - 3/12/08 at 08:34 AM

Hi

Re the gear box. A Gt is a must if using the type 2. The std units tail housing dose not have the strength without the fully cast housing.
Or the the larger 4 speed Cortina/Sierra item which is unbreakable ( with 90bhp ) but still lighter than the 5 speed type 9.

Cheers Matt
