Just checking the car for new season and found my fuel union to carb is the press fit type. I have a screw in union from an old facet pump which might fit if I try and cut a thread in the carb inlet. Is there another way before I might ruin a good carb?

There is no other way realy you have to tap a thread into the carb for the screw in union. Just check what thread it is you have as they are not all the same.
