facet fuel pump, which psi?
pumpers - 9/3/04 at 05:35 PM

Need to get a fuel pump for my car as ive finally got it up and running! I've done a search but can't seem to find what pressure pump is required. Can I get away with a 5 psi pump or is a competition 7psi ( this seems high!) one required? ( cars is for the locost racing series)
And do I need to run a return to my petrol tank from the carb or can use a fuel pressure regulator? What setup are all you racers using?? tx . Pumpers. ( hoping to be racing at Oulton on sept 4th !!! ).

I bought a solid state facet from Aldon Automotive in Brierley Hill West Midlands, they have a web site if you type in their name. Anyway they contacted Facet with the details of the race car 1300 gt etc and came up with this pump, lots of people are using higher powered pumps with regulators, Facet said that this is overkill so Ill trust them. Things like a red top or silver top are just far too powerfull for our performance, I think that they said the solid state pump that Ive got will supply fuel up to about 120 bhp which is far higher than our cars will ever get. Ring them state the Locost series and they should be able to sort you out.

Oh yea it was about £50 with the in line filter.

3-4psi no fuel return needed. it might be overkill but a redtop and a regulator are a worthwile investment. look how many people have had problems with other pumps. pump £65 regulator £25. 1 entry fee £130ish.

I would listen to the more experienced people as I have not touched the track until......................(PERHAPS) Sunday.

If you are interested the Aldon part No is 40106, I know this because I have the paperwork but the car is in the midlands and Im not.
