Hoping to pick someones brains...
My locost has a lashed up throttle linkage using standard parts and spit. Its horrible and notchy.
My partner in crime Rob's luego had a linkage failure under its previous owner costing him a finish. Hes paid someone unknown who has made a
BEAutiful linkage. We normally fabricate all our own stuff - but Cadwell is less than 2 weeks and I dont have any suitable bar stock, rod eyes etc.
Where can I get a NICE linkage off the shelf.

(we are car 68 and 69 - first time out this year at Cadwell)
Hi. You can get a very nice rose jointed one from Medina Motorsport. It is designed for ff1600 and you need the mk2 escort inlet manifold with the two mounting holes on the upper rear. It's not cheap but it is a stock item. You need to be able to run the cable in from below the manifold. Call John Loebell on 01606 881 727. Maurice
Throttle linkages usually fail because the movement from the pedal end exceeds the available movement at the carb/throttle body end.
The trick is to set up the linkage so you get the throttle 99% open and not getting forced hard against the stop to 101%.
Hi
What ever you do make sure you use a setup that has a secondary support. Never use a setup that bolts purely to the throttle spindle on the crab. It
will wear the spindle bushing in no time flat and will result is a seriously crap carburetor.
As maurice has said the best setup of the shelf is the FF1600 item. If you have trouble locating one give me a shout as i have one sat here in front
of me that can be posted or brought to cadwell on the Friday.
Cheers Matt
Thanks guys. Spoke to a few FF teams and got some pictures of off the shelf stuff. Only problem is the brackets head down where the chassis
brace/column is. I bit the bullet and re-manufactured mine with a new bracket, rose joint and spindle rod. Cost a beer to turn down some 8mm rod (rod
eye size) to 5.5mm for the bracket on the spindle. Much better thanks.
Thanks for the offer Matt... shame you werent looking at some arches when I rang you :-p! I got some from a different moulding company - we'll be
putting some in stock if anyone needs them. Can be done in colours and £50+vat per pair (for 13" wheels - race weight).
Now to re-maufacture the brackets for em, fit the new harnesses, change the tyres, fit the thermostat elbow to replace the tower (they ALWAYS leak for
me on everything from Duratec to X-flow), set the suspension... blah blah ... And Robs car... sheesh - whay after 9 months are we last push again? Oh
yeah - customers cars! You must suffer the same Matt?
