Which parts to rose joint?
Rob55 - 18/11/12 at 01:02 PM

I am at the point of fitting my suspension and need to decide on ball joints all round. At the moment I have Westfield front (wide) and rear arms and alloy uprights all round, along with nylon bushes. With regard to ball joints, I was thinking:

1. Front top ball joint - convert to rose joint to allow easy camber adjustment.
2. Front lower ball joint - use standard ball joint, no advantage to be gained from rose jointing.
3. Front track rod ends - rose joint for better steering feedback.
4. Rear upper - convert to rose joint for camber adjustment.
5. Rear lower - convert to rose joint for toe adjustment.

What do you think, would this be beneficial or overkill? And have I missed anything? Lastly who would you recommend to buy the kit from?

What benefit do rose joints have over ball joints or track rod ends? Don't they both give a similar range of adjustment and similar lack of unwanted movement?

I understand replacing rubber mounts with them, but not ball joints?

Or have I missed something?

Deck chair re-arranging at least at the front.

Camber done by top ball joint which should have same adjustment as a top rose joint
Hubs would need reaming to fit rose joint
Bottom track rods adjust toe as standard
Rose joints need to be strong to take the strain no need to swap ball joints for rosé unless you want full adjustment every where
Race car yes road car no

And the ride comfort will be greatly affected if you go all rose joint

People who drive these cars worry about ride comfort?!

I'm not worried about comfort, and whilst the car is going through IVA (occasional road use) it is being built for racing!

So back on subject, which of the above, if any, would you guys rose joint?

Well slight update, I bought tapered shims from Westfield which go into the front upright to allow a rose joint to be fitted. Now just to decide on the rose joints themselves, as the wishbone is an M18 thread! I have seen people bore out an M18 bolt with an internal 1/2" thread into which a rose joint is inserted. Any comments on this or are there any "off the shelf" conversions?

Just use a Transit darg link --- it it is more suitable for the job.
