Locost race car with twin webber 40's track day fun

Locost race car for sale.

After much soul searching I have decided to sell my Locost race car #94 which I have raced for a handful of times over the years in the 750M/C Locost race Championship. Unfortunately family circumstances have made the possibility of racing again, or for the foreseeable future very unlikely. The car has been run but not used for several years so could do with a general service, but that's it!

I had started changing this for track use so it now has two seats (comfy velor) and two seat belts.

I will supply with a basic single axle trailer that could do with a good service but works.

High capacity engine crane and stand + free rare racing camshaft (not fitted) but should drop straight in.

A Never involved in an accident that damaged chassis. AVO suspension all round running on alloys.

Engine built for well over £1000 and has done less than 400 miles.

Price £3,000 (including trailer, engine crane and sealey stand + free road race cam (not fitted))

The Locost race Championship the car would need very little spending to get it ready for the championship again.

The 750M/C offer the very best in cost effective competitive “budget” racing. The Locost championship has been a part of the 750 m/c programme for 10 years and year on year provide the closest form of racing bar none in this country. With FULL grids at every race meeting, friendly competitors willing to help each other with the main aim of ensuring we all race. The beauty of Locost racing is in the simplicity of the cars, regulation ensures fairness focusing on driver ability rather than how much money is spent on development.

I can honestly say I miss the camaraderie and friendliness of my fellow competitors (many of whom I now call close friends) as much as the racing.

You can see this car in my profile

The rear adjustable dampers are AVO
The front adjustable dampers are GAZ, built to my own custom size by GAZ for this car! Only used for one race!
Front and rear springs have been used for one race, purchased from GAZ.
Aluminium fuel tank, custom built to my specifications by a proper tank manufacturer.
Plumbed in fire extinguisher.
Rain light and indicators.
Small light weight racing wing mirrors
New exhaust, Inlet, and Webber rubber gaskets.
Westfield silencer (Stainless) and manifold Just painted but in great condition.
New Halfords Track day oil and filter.
New coolant
New brake fluid
This is the only Locost that I know of with Stainless Steel wishbones and trailing arms.
Twin webber 40's have brand new Pipercross sock air filters that look great.
High performance valve springs (not fitted)
New polybush Set for MK wishbones/trailing arms (not fitted)
750mc Race transponder
Lightweight rare flywheel prepared by the engine builder. Phil Endean, Derby (I think).
The engine was a 30k 1300 fully rebuilt and blueprinted to 1300GT spec for me with the allowed porting polishing etc. It is now +90 which takes it to well over the standard 1300cc. The rolling road with the old camshaft and Carburettor gave 89bhp which in locost terms is quite good. High tech motorsport - Cradley.
The roll cage custom was built for me at 6' so most drivers won't require any ugly extra hoops.
All lighting wiring + switch gear was new 2 years ago and is unused. New headlamps were fitted for my last race (chrome sealed beam).
All ignition wires are heavy gauge and a fairly recent addition.
Demon Tweeks
fitted battery cut off switch. + new FIA cut off switch (not fitted)
Alloy wheel spacers (not fitted)
Locking wheel nuts (not fitted)
Various gaskets, race oil, gearbox/axle oil parts and oil filter included.
Matching alloy wheel with good tyre.
Spare wheel for trailer with good tyre.
Trailerboard/lights (bring your own numberplate).
I spent about £200 on good well setup twin 40's, you can see/hear them on the video.
Quick rack and 11.5 inch leather steering wheel.
Gazebo High Spec one year old with sides/windows (see picture).
Gearbox and back axle were from the 37k mile 1.6 Escort Ghia that was scrapped by me to make it.

This car was 'borne' in my garage, nurtured by my and my father and we know everything about it. Only I have driven it at speed!

This car may need some testing/adjustments or modification before track/race use as I have not tested it since working on it over the last few years. I did however finish the last race with a great big smile on my face (and that was with the old carburettor).

If this does not sell to a Locost Fan (as I would prefer) I will put it on Ebay as a classified in May for £3500. So grab a bargain now.

Has it been through the SVA ?

No sva but wouldn't take much effort. I started the process years ago but then decided to race it. Racing required an inspection before each race and that the car was capable of passing an mot.

Sold to a racer called Adam, so look out for him soon.
