I am not on the Committee, merely posting on their behalf:
The Locost Formula Committee has been working on ways in which the Formula can be as strong as possible; it's in all of our interests that grids
keep growing. and driving standards are maintained / improved.
The Committee has been working on ways of helping drivers who plan to race or who are thinking of racing in Locost and are new to racing. Getting to
that first meeting and competing in the first couple of races can be quite hectic as many of us remember.
If you are planning to race or thinking of racing for the first time in 2005, we have prepared an Information Pack. This is simple background with
some contact details and thoughts on getting ready
for a first season. It will be available at the Autosprot and Hestoric Racing Car shows in the New Year, but if you would like to be sent a copy by
email straight away, please let me have your email
address.
Secondly, we are thinking of holding a pre season meeting for new drivers to help them feel part of the Locost racing scene and to pass on one or two
"dos" and "don'ts" that hopefully will make it easier to get going painlessly and enjoyably. Nothing is fixed yet, but as an
initial thought, who would be interested in a meeting some time in January, perhaps at Milton Keynes as part of the Grand Prix karting day on the
22nd?
The third thought, credit to Simon H for this one, is to have 'buddies' for new racers pre season and for their first couple of meetings.
Who would like a buddy and who would be willing to be a
buddy? This should help people through getting ready, licensing, pre season testing, understanding the Regs. and that 'first you sign on, then go
to the virgins' briefing, now go to scrutineering, now put your helmet on' bit, as well as getting to know others in the paddock.
To those of you who are new to racing, please let me know if and how you would like to join in with what is proposed, and those of you who
established, I hope that this all sounds sensible.
Seasons Greetings
