Can anybody tell me what the helmet requirements are for track days

Is ACU approval with gold sticker on the back ok

I was told that was OK, i bought a helmet with gold ACU approval on the strength of thread advice. Do a search - there was a thread running on this subject very recently, i cant remember what section though.

Hi Guys

I have contacted Javelin who run some trackdays and they have said that ACU which carries ECER2205 is no good for car motorsport
It must have type A or a blue and white sticker stating BS6658

Which is a bugger!!!!!

I would have thought if your helmet is good enough to fall of an R1 it would be enough for a car!!!!!
So if your helmet like mine is just ACU approved it is no good for car related motorsport

Are you talking here about competitive motorsport or track days for fun??

I was led to believe that motorsport competitive events are viewed differently to general track days.

Hi there

Track days just for fun

It strange that its good enough for a bike and not a car but the guy at the track day company said the FIA do not recognise ACU approval and that the reg's they follow state Type a or BS6658
the man at the shop i bought mine from said the typeA and BS creditation is old and they all are ACU approved now and he does not stock and of the above at any price range

Look in motor sport mags,Demon thieves etc for motorsport approved helmets. They cost shed loads of money and are usually type A.Look on ebay there are usually a few new unused typeA helmets on there where people are clearing old stock. We bought a Bell helmet still in its wrappng for £40.Well pleased.
