Hello all,
Sorry wasn't too sure where to post this.
Can anyone tell what is the score with trailers, do they have to be braked, are there any special licenses, etc. Have driven jeeps with trailers but
not in this country(UK) so was wondering what all of you did.
John
i think its all relative to the gross weight of the loaded trailer against the kerb weight of the tow vehicle, all done on %, but don't know what the
ratio is, or was, but iv'e towed with and without brakes, brakes are better for sure....but for somthing as light as a locost and a fair sized tow car
it would probaly be legal with no brakes, just need to do your sums........
there, clear as mud and no help at all.
Its supposed to be up to 50% of your car's weight for unbraked trailers with a maximum of 750kg and then pretty much anything you want with a braked
trailer.
If you look in Parkers price guide or their site on the web you'll see what the limits are for a braked trailer for your car. Most limits seem to be
over 1000kg so you'd get your Locost on one no problem.
Thanks for the information
