i am just starting the build of a locost for the 750 race series i have completed the chassis but have seen severel references to the front suspension being "wrong" in the book as this is my only point of referance could anyone enlighten me.
i would like to get it right first time.
also thanks for the great racing at brands it was the first 750 meeting i have been to special thanks to paul and his dad for letting me look over there car and ask lots of stupid questions.

There are inconsistencies with the dimensions given in The Book which affect the front suspension pick-ups (mainly the chassis mount for the damper). People use their own judgement to correct for this but that means that different people do things different ways and so you get a bit of variation between different chassis. This is fairly well known and so some flexibility is given in the application of the race regs.

There has been suspicion though that some people are using this acknowledged 'grey area' to design better suspension geometries. This year the 750MC are doing a survey of everyone's current geometries, doing a kind of average, and then making a call as to where your pick-up points should be but giving a tolerance so not everyone has to change theirs - just the people with the more extreme variations.

I realise this isn't especially helpful to you because they haven't finished the survey yet and so setting the suspension geometry rules is a way off yet. The best thing i can suggest is that you keep in contact with Robin Knight at the 750MC and ask to be given the new specs as soon as possible.
