Before I order my materials...

Hi folk,

I am going to put an order in for my suspension materials tomorrow. Was going to order 19mm OD 16swg for the wishbones and 25mm OD 16swg for the trailing arms.

I have read other threads where people have mentioned bending the bones, what is the best bet for a racing locost? Was thinking about maybe upping it to 14swg. Or will that add unwanted weight?

Ta again in advance
(once I gain knowledge this will then be passed down to fellow newbies)

You'd be better having the metal the other way round. Wishbones are best in 25mm x 16swg or thicker cds. The trailing arms can be as per the book. Unless there's something in the rules about it.

Hi just use 14g 25mmdia. And reasearch the problems that mk and luego have had. Altho dont make the front wishbones to strong or every hit on the wheel will result in a bent chassis it's a compromise that comes with expierience. Have to say tho that why not buy the latter ones that mk are now doing for the book chassis with oval tube as they look to have now got it right. Could save you a lot of time and £ in the future. If you are doing your own make shure you make a good accurate repeatable jig as you will need more at some point. And always carry a spare top and bottom with you to race meetings .

cheers matt
