Need some parts (but not sure what to look for or where)

Hi

Kinda new here. I have a locost i hope to enter in next years championship but there are a few things that need sorting.

1. The bushes have gone on my shocks. Any idea where i can get these from or is it a case of buying new shocks? They are AVO springs but that's all i could tell you :S

2. The steering gator has split and needs replacing. This might not be the correct term? (The rubber bits on the red bar in this picture http://www.a1goods.co.uk/locost/images/locost_engine.jpg only they look nothing like that so i obviously have a completely different make etc)

Sorry to sound dumb,

Hi

For the rack gaiter just pop into a local auto factor of even halfruads etc. Ask for a gaiter to fit the MK2 escort rack which is what is used.

As for the bushes on the dampers you should be able to get replacement ones from the manufacturer very cheap. You will just need to know if they are AVO GAZ SPAX etc. If they are a Black powder coated type finish they are AVO. If they are a plated metal colour they are either The early AVO or GAZ but both used the same bushes. If a yellow colour they will be SPAX. Once you know just contact the manufacturer and they should supply very cheaply replacement items. You will just need to give them the width of the bush and the bore of the bush for the bolt to go through.

Cheers Matt

Ps Welcome to the locost racing scene.

Thanks for the quick responce! Ive been reading a number of the threads on this forum and you seem to be the person to know

Ill see if i can get a photo of the springs i know they are black and have the AVO symbol on the side.

As for the "width of the bush and the bore of the bush" is this something i can just messure when the shocks are taken off? or how will i know?

Thanks again.

Hi

They are looking like a set of AVO'S then. are the bushes a red colour IE Polly type bushes or are they just a plain black rubber the std type with a steel insert tube up the middle of them. Either way Nigel at AVO should be able to supply.

As for the bore of the bush they are either going to be 1/2" ( which is 12.7mm ) or 12mm. Just measure with a digital caliper or as accurate as you can with a ruler. A 12mm bolt will be a very lose fit in a 1/2" bore bush if you can find a 12mm bolt to try in the hole.

Contact details HERE for AVO

Cheers Matt
