Simple question really, just wondering how long it can take, I know this can be dependant on problems. Retests are obviously shorter
I got there for 8 and left about 12.30.
A hell of a lot longer than I thought.
Reason I was asking is because im trying to determine should I make a lunch.
I get cranky if I don't eat
My SVA took all morning. That should have been it... Then they tried for an extra hourafter lunch, to have another go at getting it through the emissions (they had spare time before the next appointment turned up). I still failed but it wasn't for lack of effort on their behalf.
I would take something to eat, even if you take it home again. Also take a couple of drinks. My tester made me a tea but some are not so nice.
Got there at 1, left at half 3. It all depends how well the tester knows the manual and how many times their equipment gives up the ghost!

mine was 8am 'til about 1.30. Had a couple of tea breaks and lunch break in there as well.
8:15 'till just before 12. They even made me a brew
I can add arrived at 8am - finished at about 2.30 / 3pm ....was a long day for me!
Sounds like they really went to town on it...that's a looooong test.

was about 3 hours but had a few snags (12 in all).
Failed the speed test so he went through everything and we made a list so when i came back it would be quick and easy.

Speed test what does this consist of then?
Actual speed vs speedometer.
I was out by miles !!!
It was the 1st test he did but we did everything else and he pointed out a few things just to tidy up.
The guy was spot on.

They put the car on a set of rollers and run it up to speed.
They check that the speedo reads slightly under at 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70mph but not over. Then it is adjusted if possible to be within a set tolerance. I think mine took 3 attempts and was set to 68mph @70mph. It should be easy if you have a digital dash.
Digital speedo's either have an electrinic speedo sensor in the box (where the cable usually goes) or more commonly on kits, take a signal from a
hall-effect sensor mounted in the tunnel, picking up pulses from magnets on the prop.
If your speedo is cable type, are you using the donor engine, 'box, diff and wheel/tyre diameter? If so you should be OK.
