SVA Disaster
Adam - 25/7/08 at 11:16 AM

Well, i guess it could not get any worse Didn't even manage to get there. Set off nice an eaely and got 2/3's of the way there and the clutch went R1 engine, the clutch was permantley engaged got it home and came on here to see what the problem might be and seems it was the spring. Got it fixed but no test dates availble now till 13th Aug Gutted!

Oh dear, I feel for you

This is one of the reasons I did a track day to sort any of these problems out and having a dodgy thermostat that chucked all the water I was able to get it sorted at the track and be confident of its performance at SVA.

Beer time me thinks

Been there - done that.

For me it was a oil pressure relief valve stuck open...

Damn! That's bad luck!!!

Snap-off - 25/7/08 at 11:42 AM

Gutted for you mate! I sort of know how you feel.
I took mine on a trailer and the borrowed towing car broke down twice on the way home! I failed the SVA and fell out with the garage that lent me the trailer because i did not have it back in time.
The day before i tried to setup the emissions at the garage, scratched the rear arch in the trailer and the guy at the garage ran over my bonnet!
You could not make that Sh?t up! I still can't laugh about it yet!

Are you on the original diaphram plate ?

if so suspect it went over center ( did not pop back )

if so a stop on the cable to stop it going too far.

Bad news on the dates so though have you asked to be informed if there are any cancelations ect ect.

regards

Agriv8

Adam - 25/7/08 at 01:12 PM

was good bit clunky but i'm led to believe thats BEC's for ya.... was good fun really untill i came off a round about and the clutch stayed in it's just a shame it's all ready to go and it's just sat there in the garage

That bad luck have you tried ring around to other SVA stations to see if they have any earlier slots and/or put yourself on their cancellation list.

Bad luck mate

I think clutch staying disengaged is an old favorite with R1s due to too much travel on the cable from the pedal. You take apart the clutch, fix it, then put a backstop on the pedal ;^)

Was a very odd day wasnt it LOL!!
Broke down twice then i nearlly got run over by an bl**dy great lorry Stopped again and broke down next to the TIGER RACING company to be told the tiger R6 was the best car aroundand then to be asked why have a bike engine!! No wonder i never bought a tiger! Got told the biggest load of Bullsh*t buy them.
Then got to have a ride all the way home on the back of a recovery truck.
