A differential question

Following on from this thread.
LINKY
I have realised i can swap over the bearing housings so that my drive shafts should fit.
Can anyone see any issues doing this before i start stripping a good diff down.
Thanks in advance
Brad.

Only think I would say is that it's not a good idea to mix the bearing parts, like one set of inners with another set of outers, as they wear to fit, if you know what I mean! I think that you will need to fit a new set of bearings, and then redo the backlash, which you will have to anyway, if you just change the bearing carriers. Cheers Ray

I don't know the answer to your question, although it is a good one.

I do know that rebuilding diffs requires some "special skill" to get the backlash right. So before you start dismantling, make sure you know how to put it back together!

do it!
i was a bit scared of doing it myself, but pretty easy as lon as you don't touch the pinion.
if you swap bearing housing, do change the bearings (2 parts) about 90 euros here (timmken)
backlash required patience, a flat steel bar and a good dial gauge
cheers
