Trying to fit our new (to us) Laser wheels today, it's a bit of a tight fit under the cycle wings with the R888s fitted, offside goes on Ok but
the nearside wheel jams once it's tightened up. Couldn't work out what was causing it at first then noticed a score line inside that wheel,
turns out it's jamming against the caliper. There's a sharp 'ridge' on the outside of that caliper (i.e against the wheel)
that's not on the caliper on the other side, looks like casting funny, like a small fault in the mould (they're original Sierra calipers).
Would it be safe just to grind off the ridge or should I go with a spacer.

yeh grind it off
I'd grind it off aswell. Saves unsprung weight aswell
are the laser wheels the same look as the 4 spoke rs ones and did you have to get the centres enlarged to fit on seirra hubs...............cheers as

grind it!!!
standard sierra calipers have pretty dodgy mouldings. ive taken files to them a few times

Don't see any problem about that. I'd take it off as soon as the problem showed itself.
But isn't that the floating part of the caliper? How far are your pads worn? And how much space will you have left with new pads? Maybe you
already thought about that... but would be a shame you get your wheels to fit, just to have the same problem once again when you fit new pads.
Pads have got a grand total of 600 miles on them so not very worn at all.
Ground them off this afternoon and wheels now fit fine, to be honest they were more like 5mm than 2-3, just ground them flush with the rest of the
caliper and plenty of clearance now.
Thank everybody for the reassurance that my brakes aren't going to fall off
