I need a length of ducting to connect a cone filter to this mahooosive hole on my new carb hat.
Everything I seem to find on ebay or CBS seems far too small. Any suggestions on what I can do?
Regards,
Dave
Pair of tights and an elastic band?
It would be useful to give the diameter required.
Single skin stainless steel flue. Is that plenum oval?
Let me have some sizes and see what I have in the stores.
Yes it is oval, so it'll need distorting at one end. I don't have dimensions to hand, but I'd estimate it as about 6" by 3".
It'll be Tuesday night before I can come up with anything more accurate than that. When I was searching on ebay for 'air duct' all I
came up with was about 60mm diameter, which is never going to fit.
Thanks,
Dave
Doesnt the airfilter just sit inside that big 'thing'?
No. As far as I'm aware it's primarily meant to be used to plumb a supercharger or turbocharger into a carb and all filtering has been done upstream. And before anyone suggests it, I am not sticking a charger on! (yet)
When i built my viento i bought some wire re-enforced silicon ducting from Europa. It was 5 years ago so i dont know if its still stocked. From memory it was 72mm dia.
looked through my build file and found it

Comes in sizes up to 114mm dia.

The circumference of the oval is about 345mm so just a little too big for this http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/713024 which is a much more reasonable £7.69 for 4 metres.
Could you fit a plate on the box cut 2 holes in the plate and feed two large pipes into it ?
I think I still have a few metres of wire reinforced flexi tubing, its about 2" diameter if its any good to you ??
Thanks for the offer, but 2 2" pipes wouldn't have the cross sectional area I need.

Dave
Try Googling ARCO in Hull, they have a division that specialize in flexi pipes.
Denis.
the other alternative would be to have an adapter made and welded on in Ally to bring the inlet down to a circle rather than an oval and make it a common size at the same time? I know a man who can.
