i am luck enough to have a HUGE startrite bandsaw in work which is amazing and i have a makita chop saw also
The rage saw is good, but difficult to "aim" properly, also the blades dont last long and are expensive to buy

what about the compound mitre one?
I live in the next road to migtig&arc, get loads of bits from them (they do 1mm cutting (plasma)disc's for the grinder, brilliant)
I saw (no pun intented)a demo of the smaller version of this saw in B&Q's the other week, went straight through a bl**dy household radiator
as if it was ply

They look interesting. I've been after something like the mitre version for chopping stainless tube.
I wonder how long he blades would actually last?

I use a €49,- (30 pound) mitre saw from Aldi for wood that has the blade turning at 5000 rpm. I changed the sawblade with a grindingblade (the largest
that would fit) using a customised adapter to mate it to the saw. It has been working great. You can fix it in different angles and cut very
precise.

Yes it can cut steel! The largest I have cut with it is a 50x50x5 mm box section...
A locost frametube shoulden't be a problem.
i use an angle grinder with 1mm blade cuts like butter i got a stand for it from lidle for £9.99 that makes it easy to get the cut spot on

I hope you angle grinder stand was better than mine! It had a frankly incredible amount of slop in the pivot, meaning it was basicly unusable. I shimmed up the pivot with a strip of steel cut out of the side of a drinks can and made it a lot better, but by the time I have a tube accurately clamped up (clamp is crap as well!) I could have accurately hacksawed it. Mine is currently sitting on a pile of scrap bits in my basement, where it has been for the last 2 years or so.
