Side Indicators
RIL2002 - 19/8/11 at 11:14 AM

Hi Guys Just a quick one.
I have changed my front cycle wings which had the side indicators in them. Do I have to fit these in my new ones or can I do away with them? Do I need these for mot and if I do can I put them on the side of the car. I have the stalk indicators at the front of the car below the headlights so was hoping I could do away with the cycle ones
Cheers

Im guessing there's not indicators on the side of the car? If not then you need to relocate the indicators onto the side of the car somewhere if you don't want them on the wings. Some people put them onto the scuttle, but I don't think it'll pass the IVA with them there. The locost book position has them mounted on the bottom ali panel under the bonnet.

Hope this helps,

Chris

They are the side repeaters and are required by law. You could always move them to the side panel or scuttle ?

just think how useful they are for other road users when signalling at junctions when mounted on the cycle wings...

Thanks guys, answered my question, its just I dont like the cable being cable tied to the stays and being so close to a wheel turning at high speed. Forgot to add its on a Aries locoblade.
Thanks Rik

if its on a Q plate or an older age related plate(not sure what year) you don't need them for mot.

my dad had an american ford aerostar van over here, D reg, didn't have side repeaters and didn't fail MOT on it. that was before SVA though, you might fall short on contruction and use regs, since it did have to have them when it was tested and registered, but i think thats more a VOSA road side spot check thing rather than MOT

Mine are fitted on the side panel, and are bright led bulbs, as can be seen below, just above the exhaust

Pretty sure you do not need them for a MOT if on a Q plate (but need working front and rear)... but would also like to know for definite

I looked Here and that seems to read that all fitted indicators should work, but cannot see if side indicators are required

Hi guys, the cars on a 2010 plate so I suppose I need them so I will probably relocate them on the skuttle if you need them for mot.
