CORRECT!!!

You can see the chassis scraped by the plug as the engine was lowered inot place.

There is enough clearance.

I'll either have to reshape the allen key bolt head or undo passenger mount and raise the block by about 5 mm.

I hadn't taken the sump shape into account so am lucky it goes in at all

Surely it's a fairly common thread so you can source a bung with a hexagan head & use a spanner rather than a hex key?
We've got a Fiat tractor in at work that has a badly damaged drain bung & a 22mm hydraulic pipe fitting we keep in stock fits perfect, just needs the centre welded up to make it a bung.
