I went to Arch Motors in Huntingdon today, to get the materials for a windscreen (aluminium extrusions, & the rubber seals). What a friendly
bunch to deal with!
I followed the bloke who does windscreens all the way through the workshops, ogling at the Caterham and Arial Atom chassis neatly stacked around the
place. The quality of the welding on the Atom was very impressive, and the bronze brazing on the Caterham chassis was very neatly done. The fit and
finish of all the other bits around the place was also excellent.
It's quite clear that you get what you pay for when you buy either of those cars!
Shame I didn't have my camera - but maybe they wouldn't have been too happy for me to take piccies all around the place.
SEE TOLD YA SO
Tis indeed a fact... Arch are the Daddies!
I thought caged were making the Caterham chassis now?
There must have been 15 - 20 new cat chassis around the place - maybe they're just doing one model, finishing a contract, or just helping out with extra capacity.
They do the original chassis ......caged do the new SV chassis
I had a good look around the Atom at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the qualify of the chassis is superb.
I believe Steel Fabrications Ltd (used to be the chassis manufacture part of Caged) make the S3 (series 3) & SV chassis for Caterham. The S3 race
car chassis and the CSR chassis are still made by Arch.
