depends on what you want out of it, dont get too hung up on how many pixels. Go for the highest optical zoom this massively impact upon overall quality. I have a 2 cameras one a SonyDSLR the other a Kodak Z650 I only bought the Sony as it offered continual frame shooting which is needed for tracks. The quality of the Kodak is brilliant it offers 10 x optical zoom and 10 x digital the optical zoom function is 9 x better than the DSLR I have to change lensed on the DSLR for this

Don't under any circumstances buy an Olympus X-42 it is the worst camera I have ever owned.
I loved all the previous Olympus cameras I owned but this one was a bad move. Spec looks good for thre money but the pictures are muddy and menu system is impossible to master.

It will be junked before it is a year old and relpaced with another Samsung or perhaps a a Fuji or a Cannon.

i'm selling a digital camera....
it's a fuji finepix s1500.
12x zoom, it's one of the compact slr types.

I'm only selling because i want a smaller one, it's practically brand new!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-FinePix-S1500-Digital-Camera/dp/B001SN6XQS

i'd do it for £100 with a leather case!

Ive got a canon Ixus 100IS which i bought a month ago for £99 off ebay.

Having had a stream of nikon coolpix (s200/s210 etc) i switched to canon with a Ixus 75 and not the 100 and they are cracking cameras. The nikon's where ok, but the canon has the edge.

Ive got a Casio Exilim somethingorother. I bought it a couple of months ago from tax free at Luton for £70, and its the best camera ive ever had.

Big screen
12.1 mega pixel
"Best Shot" Function
Video
and all the other features of a compact.

ETA Price.

I did a search by rating, and worked from there.
Remember that the prices shown are usualy RRP, so beatable. For example, I wanted to spend about £100 on one for the missus, so the highest rated cheapish camera (92%) was the Nikon Coolpix S560, listed as £160, but I found it for £110 on line and it even came in Pink, just what she wanted.

Another good site is steves digicams. Although beware of model changes due to it being a us site. Forinstance Ixus 100 IS becomes the ELPH SD780 IS

Any compact you buy for £100 is going to work, and take good photos, so you have to start looking at what else is important to use. Power of the settings, overall size, battery life, card/usb compatabilty. etc.

Hence i went for a camera thats small, comes from reputable camera company and hence has good control over settings, and as a plus, takes a std usb mini-b cable. 16bg SD card will hold 8k photos and with two batterys which charge in about an hour i can take photos all day long.
