Tonight i pulled out the draw in the washing machine to find it full of black gunky cr*p. Pipes also look like they have this gunk in them too. Have had a look about on the net and cant find anything that i can to use to flush the machine out.

Anyone got any ideas how to get my machine back to its former glory?

strip it.

Clean it.

That happens when you do not let the washing machine dry out before you close the door, remove and clean the detergent drawer.

I would use the dishwasher in future - the detergent is much more effective for cleaning engine components

its should just scrub off easily one you can get at it...

Yup, same problem with ours recently. Spoke to an w/m engineer, he said...

No clothes.
Hottest temperature
Longest wash
No conditioner
Ariel tablests in draw
Leave door open afterwards to dry out

Do this every 40(ish) washes

Personaly, as soon as the washing finishes, i remove the detergent drawer and clean it up. Let it dry and leave the door open for a couple of days minimum.

No gung or anything.

Aren't we a domesticated lot? .......

LOL that made me smile too

twice a day in my house

we had problem with the machine stinking of something resembling stagnant water, a load of washing came out smelling worse than when it went in

our problem was its a combined washer dryer, apparantly you need to run the dryer every now and then to heat everything up and dry it out?

so now every weekend I put some old towels from the garage in there, run a top heat wash with just the tablets, no conditioner (oh god Im so hard done by in my garage) and then 60 minutes of tumble dryer on high

sorted the problem

just due to our machine never being fully dried out

When we moved into our place the appliances were used by previous occupants and built in, the washing machine stank of curry??

This was coming from the door seal which I had replaced and the the guy who did it said it was a combination of using liquid rather than powder washing stuff and not drying it out.

He said to use the Oxy stuff at least once as the peroxide in it kills the germs that makes the goo and causes smells. He also said 1/2lb of salt on an empty hot wash was a good descaler.

Ours went very bad a while ago and made our clothes stink when she switched to liquid detergent. Swapped back to tablets and it's back to normal.

we clean ou dishwasher and washing machine, on the hottest setting empty with 1/2 cup full of white vinegar

works on furred up kettles as well!
