Selling Gilts
Snuggs - 22/10/11 at 07:06 AM

Anyone here an expert on selling Gilts.

My ageing mother has
£400 of 12% Exchequer Stock 2013-2017
£20000 of 2.5% Treasury Stock 1975 or after
£24000 of 2.5% Consolidated Stock

All were
purchased in 1988

I need to know an approximate current value and whether it is worth selling or hanging on to them as we may need funding for a care home.

Cheers

Clive

I think you need to call a stockbroker Clive - I think you can either redeem them for their face value with the Government or they are probably worth less than that to sell on the market...

Cheers Mark, that's what I thought but I thought I would consult the fountain of all knowledge first.

I may need a chat with you sometime about renting out her flat.

Shame it wasn't all at 12%, that would be rather more valuable!

Think they are tradeable ( as support computer systems at work for buying, selling and lending ) but thats all I know about them.

for the amounts involved i would be talking to an Personally RECOMENDED indipendant Financial Advisor.
