So lucky ole me is going to Singapore, has anyone been and can offer some Do's and Don't Tips?
Will be there 7 days.

Lovely place, very safe and clean. Don't take chewing gum and do take plenty of spending money as it's a pricey place. If your there for a
full 7 days you will have loads of time to see all the sights as it's not that big, I can highly recommend a night or 2 in Kuala Lumpur too
there's a very interesting train or very comfy coach between the cities for pennies, just don't take the wife down to the beach club

I went there a few weeks ago for a weekend (part of a business trip around South East Asia)
There are so many things to do:
1) have a ride on the Singapore Flyer (London Eye)
2) visit the casino (3 buildings with boat on top)
3) loads of shopping malls, but things are expensive
4) amphibious vehicle ride
5) F1 track (near Singapore Flyer)
6) use public transport which is cheap
We visited some years ago so things have probably changed but we stayed for a couple of nights on Sentosa Island which was really beautiful although I
guess very much a tourist area.
We also had one night at Raffels Hotel where we had the traditional Singapore Sling and lunch in the Tiffin Room. Expensive but something we'll
remember all our lives.
The beach club cafe is in Kuala Lumpur, google it and have a peek at the images
I couldn't possibly say anymore on a family site......
The zoo is worth a visit!
We stopped for a couple of nights on the way to New Zealand for honeymoon.
Humidity is bad we walked most places and found routes through shopping centres were a welcome release.
Zoo is good. Raffles is a must.
Food excellent. Everyone friendly. Taxis were very cheep and the are football mad. River taxi was a nice wat to get about around the port.
Beer is / was very expensive

I spent 18 months there. Singapore is all about food, if you want to experience the good stuff get off the beaten tourist path and ask taxi drivers to
recommend good places to eat, especially seafood. You want the places where you see locals eating.
That's if you like different food and don't want what they call "western food" every night.
A local taught me a good tip, if you are eating in a local sidewalk restaurant, take a table right on the outside where people are walking past. They
give you bigger portions there as advertising

Thanks folks some handy stuff, definitely will be venturing off the tourist trail where possible and certainly looking to experience the different
food.
I will be in seafood heaven as Mrs Wombat allergic to fish n shellfish, will there be plenty of options for her too?
If humidity so high I guess it's short sleeve shirts and shorts only to pack, but what about nighttime does it cool off?

Our hotel had air con so we set it to keep is cool and left it on but take a bottle of water to bed as you will need it when you wake up with a dry
throat.
Friend went a year back and the pit lane for the f1 was open to walk around
