I have a question that needs an answer before I make a sharp change of direction on my Mg Midget restomod project.

Has anyone done an electric reverse on a live axle car? By that I mean the toothed wheel & starter setup. Have people fitted it at the engine end before?

Does an inline electric assist exist at all? One that looks like the mechanical transfer boxes but simply has an electric motor in to shove back when needed and give a bit of extra battery charge when not? Or did I dream that up?

That's the kind of thing I was after - mechanical reverse seems too pricey and I don't want to add any more weight onto the live axle!
