Quickie Pinto question
ethomas - 25/2/05 at 05:31 PM

Can anyone tell me the oil capacity of the 1600 Pinto? I have no dipstick on my car (the tube has been capped through) and do not want to guess the amount of oil to put in before I start it for the first time.

I have been looking online and cannot find this information anywhere.

Cheers,

Ed

Perfect, thanks guys.

I picked up some cheapy Halfords 10w/40 to use while setting up the car, when the car is ready for the road I will ditch this and put more clean oil in of a much better make.

The oil in the sump when I bought it was black and lumpy

Are you modding the sump as this will alter the quantity and no dipstick??? What will you do come track days???
Pat...

Sump is standard and always will be on this engine (1600 pinto seems like a bid of a dead end, so I will swap it for a Zetec before moddine). No dipstick yet, when I find one in the scrappy I will have one. Track days are a distant dream so far, I have an engine to start and an SVA to get first.

Not to mention finding a pair fo seats less than 40cm wide at the base

Cheers,

Ed
