Never had mine stolen. Mind you, if someone else puts there's out first, let them take the risk. Your timer should work off pretty much any beacon.

I allways do a couple of laps searching for beacons before i put one out, to be honest i cant remember the last time i need'd a beacon theres allways one out somewhere. Make sure you set the "obscure" time on it just short of a lap time as people put them all over the track for split times, this will send your screen potty if you dont hide from them.

If your only gonna use it on race, practice or official test days you wont need a beacon as the track one will be on, its only "track days" where sometimes the circuit dont turn them on you need your own beacon, so if thats all your gonna use it for save money on the beacon, you can still test your readout is working ok in yr garge ect by using a tv/vcr ect remote control.

Just another thought, so I`m forewarned before Sat how is the system set up to reconise one particular beacon and block out others, as there will be little time between me getting the unit and fitting before practice

they all work of the same signal, an infra red beam, thats why i said you can test it with yr remote control, the circuit will have one switched on, you just need to make sure you have your "reciever" pointing the write way, look where everyone else as pointed there,s

you then need to set a time on it (will be in instructions) to tell it how long to wait before it looks for a signal after it as seen one, this needs to be set under your lap time, if there are several beacons out there it will think you have done a lap each time you pass one if you hav'nt set the "obscure" time.

hope this makes sense, i wont be there myself but plenty of people will be who have one of these timers on board, they will put you right if need be.
