Steel suspension Dampers??
I picked up my chassis from MK yesterday and was chatting to Baz, he said that he thought the regs have been revised and you can now use alluminium
bodied dampers.
I have looked through the thread list and cannot see a topic on this, but according to the Regulations on the 750mc site they need to be steel
bodied.
Is it just that the regs have not been updated yet? Cause I want to get some soon.
If they do have to be steel bodied where have others got theirs from?

Yes they do have to be steel bodied - helps to keep the costs down a little.
I got my AVOs from Demon Tweeks but not quite what i actually needed so i ended up nipping down the M1 to Northampton to see the AVO people themselves
since if you order from Tweeks it gets posted from AVO anyway.
They were very helpful & friendly. Might be worth going direct.

bit of a laff that rule as Protech ally shocks can be had for the same price if not less than avo steel ones!
Set of 4 Protech ally shocks from MNR are £315 incl springs and VAT

Locost racing is awash with regulations like that to allegedly keep things low cost but that actualy work out more expensive in reality - all part of
the fun allegedly 
There used to be a safety aspect to the no aluminium bodied damper one though I seem to remember ie they used to break easier than steel bodied ones

HI they have let us run alloy dampers in kits this year. The first guy to take advantage has fitted what must easily of cost over £1000 . So altho
you can get base spec ie protecs for £50 a pop it also allows in the £500 ones at the same time. Altho i know you can spend the same £500 on steel
ones people seem less willing to that i have no idea why.
They really should change locost racing to better value for money racing.

yep, needs some clever rules to be written rather than blanket simple ones (which is the case with all racing I guess)
one reason again that I quite like the grassing rules, as though you CAN spend what you like on dampers etc, you are also free to design whatever
suspension you like, and that's not necessarily just down to cash, and can be made to work well with cheaper dampers.
