Rollbars and rod ends.

I've got a standard MK rollbar, just a hoop. As a nod to safety I'm going to fit a cross brace and rear supports. I know what spec tube to use, but want to know if I can use rod ends to attach the rear brace tubes. It would make fitting a lot easier. It makes sense to try and make it to MSA spec just in case I ever get around to entering a sprint or hill climb.

there's no mention of it in the MSA blue book as far as i remember... i would say no. I think you'd struugle to find rod ends rated at a high enough load for a car to counce on the roll bar

Its ok to have a bolt-in cross brace but why go for a rod end? A bearing will have no advantage at all will it?

Hi I think i recall it not being whithin MSA regs to do it that way any more. It is how westfield used to do thier rear MSA rollbar stays and there was discussion on the WSCC forum about it. But i can not remember what the outcome of it was though.

Only real answer is to seek clarification from the MSA. But what are you using the car for any paticular form of motorsport or just road and trackday use.

cheers Matt

Just road use at the moment, but while I'm going thru the hassle of doing it I might as well do it to meet current standards just in case I do ever get my finger out and use it properly! The car that is rather than the roll bar.
