MNR VortX R1 SVA Pass!
To the day four years ago I sent Chris and Marc a cheque for my kit...
And today I finally have a legal car!
After the first fail a couple of weeks ago I arrived at Yeading at 10.30 this morning and by 11 I had my MAC!
The original fail points were a couple of radiusing issues, self centering, rear wheels outside the edge of the arch and pinning the brake bias
bar...
After finding that the wheels I'd bought were the Cosworth offset of ET15 I nabbed some new wheels off ebay for £50 and put the correct ET35s on.
This also dramatically improved the self centering (scrub radius change... ) along with a rack rebuild.
So a big thanks to all for the help over the past 4 years and also to Marc and Chris for a great kit!
Now starts the mods!

Nice looking car, love the colours.
Just out of interest does it have a Cat on? It's obviously a bike engine with that gearstick, just wondered how you managed if it
doesn't have a cat.

Thanks all!
Dad just popped it into the DVLA today and got the V5 processed! Should get the plate number in the next few days and then I can start blatting it
around legally!
The emissions were an absolute breeze with the setup I had strangely enough... I hacked the original R1 silencer around...
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=76640
And then welded in a high flow CAT from the US to the front end of it. Then by turning the idle mixture screws all the way in and then backing off by
a turn and a half the results were brill!
The silencer cost about £70 to make including buying the original (£7) off ebay, the CAT ordered and delivered from the US (£40) off ebay and the 90
bend from OJZ Engineering (http://www.ojzengineering.co.uk/) who produce some very high quality stuff (£20). The CAT is welded into place inside the
original silencer as there is loads of room (a la Richard Miles Striker R1 build). This resulted in a can at around 94dB and very good emission
results...
The green thing in front was some weird electric vehicle that some guy was trying to get through IVA... Not sure what the outcome was though!
Chris.

Also got to say a massive thanks to Dad (tomwalter) for all his help in the final stages of the build!!
I really wouldn't have had the money or time to finish the car prior to IVA without him and Ma!
